Sanyo Industrial Co., Ltd. updated its weather resistance testing equipment in August 2020, replacing the existing carbon arc type weather resistance testing device with the xenon lamp type "i Super Xenon Tester XER-W83." Until now, the mainstream weather resistance testing equipment in Taiwan has been the carbon arc type, but there is a growing trend in the Taiwanese market to transition to the xenon lamp type in line with the times. The QC-609A is a weather resistance testing machine that has three functions: constant temperature, aging, and weather resistance. It is equipped with a 3000W UV fluorescent lamp inside the oven, which closely mimics the ultraviolet wavelength characteristics of sunlight and the high-temperature characteristics found inside shipping containers, allowing for weather resistance evaluation under conditions that closely resemble the real environment, primarily using ultraviolet light as the source. Weathering resistance testing of rubber and elastomer materials: Examples of accelerated degradation testing and analysis.

It is possible to evaluate the degradation state of rubber and elastomers from the surface to the interior!

On our company website, we introduce "Weather Resistance Testing and Degradation Analysis Examples" through physical property measurement and evaluation. The sample is ABS resin, and the weather resistance test was conducted using the Sunshine Weatherometer (SWOM), analyzing the situation where degradation progresses from the surface to the interior. Additionally, using TEM images (cross-sectional observation) before and after the SWOM test, it is explained that degradation of the butadiene rubber (domain) component in ABS was observed more prominently at the surface.
